Start Building a List
Sign up with some kind or kind of an email service and put a signup form on your site. Make an effort to put some wording there that will entice visitors to sign up hopefully.
I take advantage of AWeber and I'm individually a fan of AWeber. I know a complete lot of folks like MailChimp as well, but I believe Aweber is the better game around.
Even if you don't have anything to provide away yet, something up there is preferable to nothing. A whole lot of people conclude waiting until they have something to provide away and in the mean time they're allowing months pass without building a list.

Give Something Away
You need to have something to provide away that will make people want to be on your list.
You basically consider it as though it's your first deal. Obviously, there's no money changing hands. But it's still somewhat of a exchange: they're giving you a contact address, which means you need to give them something cool to want to be on there.
What that needs to be will depend on what market you're in. Ultimately, you look for some type of a hot button that your market is considering and create something that delivers them with a solution to that. It doesn't need to be a hundred pages. It doesn't even have to be always a PDF. It could be a video tutorial or something like that.
The measurement of what size it requires to be is just that they get some good value out of it and you're helping them with some type of a remedy. Then give it away for free if they opt-in to your email list.
Email Your List
Don't drop the ball once they're on the list. You need to continue to email them. Don't inundate them, but keep the move going just.
A complete lot of individuals lose track right there. They're so concentrated on getting visitors to subscribe, that they ignore that they need to maintain the list once it is had by them. If you don't do that, people forget why they're there in the first place.
Because you haven't built a marriage with them, when you do email them, they're much more likely to unsubscribe or say that you're a spammer or something like that. They don't really keep in mind who the heck you are plus they don't really caution.
So it's only a subject of emailing them over a routine basis. It could simply be emailing them with a link to your latest blog post. Maybe it's a product promotion, if you wish to move that route. The Role of Email Marketing
In my own business, it's huge.
Email marketing isn't only my way of driving a car my readers back again to my blog when I post something new, it is also where the majority of my income is via. The blog produces income on its own, but its biggest role is to foster the connections of men and women who are already on my list or to get people onto my list to get started with.
A lot of the money originates from the list immediately. It would be incredibly difficult to make a living easily weren't using email.
The Power of Email
Email is the right path of mobilizing the public.
It's the right path of pulling their attention to something any moment that you want. Without that, you're simply sitting down there and waiting for them to feel like coming back. Your website isn't really an asset unless you have a way to mobilize their attention.
Using Auto-Responders
I think they're really useful.
I haven't been using auto-responders a whole lot, aside from with a few of my product sites, but I'm going to change that. I'm actually along the way of putting together an auto-responder series and using that more than the one-off messages.
I feel that when you do it that way, you can do things a complete lot more strategically than if you were just asking yourself on any given day, "Okay, today what am I heading to send my list?"

Make Your Homepage into a LANDING PAGE
I have a larger opt-in on my homepage a lot of people do then. In the event that you look just above the fold, it's basically a squeeze page with a menu.
A website landing page very simply is a full page that only has a single purpose: to get a person to opt-in to an email list. So there's nothing else to allow them to do. Some copy is read by them, maybe a headline, maybe which video, and they have one decision to make: whether to opt-in or not.
Most blogs provide an opt-in form in the sidebar and that's it. But it's very difficult to appeal to their attention with that. THEREFORE I think having a nice really, squeeze-page opt-in helps on the homepage.
The homepage is not the most occupied page of the website. Most site visitors go straight into one of your content via search or interpersonal multimedia or something like that. On those pages, the content is the main thing obviously. That's why they're there. But when they're on a homepage, it's more of an initial relationship-builder.
With that said, I think the most crucial thing you can do with your homepage is to have them on your list.
